Don’t Lose Your First Love

Don’t lose your first love…Revelation 2:2-4

Life can become so hectic. You have work, study, ministry commitments. Then there are family events, perhaps sports training, children to transport, all kinds of demands on your time. It can be overwhelming, but you persevere…you stay up late and get up early…It seems you are busy every waking moment.

In Revelation 2:2-4 God is speaking through John, to the church at Ephesus (but really to us as well). He lists all the good things they have done and all their wonderful qualities, but then comes the crunch. They have lost their first love. They have become so busy with all the business of the Kingdom, that they have not stayed close to the King. They have not listened for His voice in the night and in the early morning. They have not been reading His Word and drawing strength from His Presence.

Let us not make the same mistake –

don’t lose your first love –  not for any reason…

He wants us to thirst for Him until the dew of heaven settles upon our hearts and drips through every cell of our being and satisfies the deepest desires of our hearts.   To sit in His Presence until understanding dawns in our minds and His light shines in our hearts and life takes on its true meaning from HIS perspective.

Let’s still our hearts in His Presence right now.  Let yourself long for Him as you did when you were a new Christian – when He spoke to you and answered your prayers – when you wanted to rush out and tell everybody how wonderful He is.  Tell Him now how much you love Him – how much you want Him and need Him……….

NOTHING ELSE can replace the relationship that comes out of worship.  He inhabits the praises of His people.  So if you want to feel God closer – praise and worship Him.  Instead of concentrating on how unworthy you are, concentrate on how wonderful He is.

Don’t lose your first love – not for any reason…
