Something New

So God is speaking to you about something new….

MP900178785He has spoken a new thing into your spirit.  You have received it and believed it.  Perhaps it has been confirmed in many different ways.

As you read the Word, scriptures pop out at you, or the same scripture keeps coming up when you pick up your Bible, or in the Sunday sermon, or mentioned by a friend.  As you pray, the awareness of the ‘new thing’ excites you, drawing you closer into God’s Presence as you seek Him for a greater understanding.

As you go about your daily life, often the ‘new thing’ comes to mind.  Even though much time passes, the thing doesn’t go away.  It’s just always there, in the back of your mind and in your spirit.

Now you begin to press in to God.  You know that it is true.  This is what God wants, but nothing is happening.  You pray and seek and wait and repeat the cycle many times.  Now you hear nothing, but you press in anyway.  Each session with the Lord is precious, but nothing more is revealed.   Time passes – maybe months – maybe years.

God is not in a hurry.  He is preparing a vessel fit for the Master’s use.

At this point it is easy to become discouraged, or to think that it must have just been your own thought or desire.  No, it was truly God, but you have only just begun the journey of discovery.  The secrets of the Lord, the treasures of darkness, are not for the casual seeker-after-God.  The precious things are for His own dear children, who love Him though they cannot see His Face, or understand His reasons, or even sometimes cannot feel His Presence – though He is so near, even in us.

You have been given a gift, a promise, a ‘new thing’.  It has been formed in the spiritual realm, but now you must bring it to birth in the natural realm.  This takes time and patience, commitment and perseverance probably way beyond what you think is reasonable.  What you don’t need now is striving.  Striving will ruin and distort the precious thing.  Doubt and discouragement will abort it.

The only way is to rest and trust in the absolute faithfulness of God.  Faith is KNOWING and resting in that knowledge.

When you come to seek the Lord, come with expressions of love and thanksgiving, declaring His promises.  ‘Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart’. Prov.3:5.

In your times of prayer, pray in the Spirit, pray with thanksgiving, pray with love and with joy.  Wait quietly in His Presence and listen for His Voice.  If you hear nothing, do not be discouraged.  This may happen many, many times.  Realise that the Holy Spirit is at work in you preparing you, testing your character, girding you with strength.  By the time you bring this thing to birth you will be ready to run with it.

Often during the long waiting process, God will answer you along another line of prayer, yet you may hear nothing concerning the one thing you are seeking.

When the time is right (‘in the fullness of time’), God will do exactly what He promised.  It will come to pass with such ease and such speed, that you will be amazed.  By the time it comes to pass it will seem so natural that it will almost be an anti-climax, because you have ‘possessed’ it in your spirit for so long.

Enjoy the journey,

Kerrie
